We managed a couple of events before restrictions made further performances and conventional rehearsals unsafe. Since then we have adjusted the way in which we meet, in order to make the best of the current situation. The following images are from our busy Covid Year. See you all in a healthy 2021.

St Luke’s Church, Bath
20th July 2019
Our day began with a tour of Bath. Some people took the walking tour… others sampled the delights of Sally Lunn’s. Then it was the turn of Oxford Welsh conducted by Helen Swift and accompanied by Tim Crosten
|
The bus stopped here. It meant that everone saw Poultney Bridge and the Abbey before searching for cakes. The Silver Ring began the concert conducted by MD Phil Draisey and with accompanist John Lowe. The goat song went well. The correct colour goat was displayed! 24th February 2018
Our St David’s Day Celebration in The University Church. This is a joint rehearsal with our guests, Rechoir and their MD Nathan Jones. …Bob Edwards gives us a proper Welsh welcome. The concert was a great opportunity to try out some of the pieces that we have been rehearsing for a massed choir event in the Albert Hall, later this year. St Thomas of Canterbury, Goring
28th April 2018
Our choir relies on its supporters. Apparently they cannot see, hear or say anything derogatory about our boys… Phew! Bob Edwards sang the solo verses in O Gymru and Myfanwy. He’s no stranger to the Church as he sings in its choir.
Another successful concert… we already have a booking for 2020 | Helen Swift conducted the first set in this lovely Church. She last conducted here when we recorded our latest CD.
We are luck to have such a talented music team, Tim Croston is a brilliant pianist and also a dynamic conductor. The smiles from the choir, music team and soloist say, ‘Well Done’. |

Samantha will be joining us on October 27th for our massed Choir 90th Birthday Concert. | Alwyn Humphreys conducted the massed choirs with his usual vigour and flair. Our 90th Anniversary Cycle Ride to Wales
27- 29 September 2018…
Day One…
Our 90th birthday adventure began at our rehearsal premises, St Francis CE Primary School in Cowley. All of the children turned out to say good bye. We featured on BBC South News. The journey was organised by a small team of choristers, Andy Jones, Philip Gibbs, David Reid and Nigel Hill. Here is Nigel trying to line us up… it’s very fortunate that he has endless patience and broad shoulders when dealing with the lads of the Oxford Welsh 🙂 The children had all made flags with St Francis or a Welsh Dragon. We assembled and prepared to leave on our adventure… …followed closely by Helen Swift. | We decided to collect money for the British Heart Foundation, in memory of one of our choristers David Wynn who was involved in the early stages of planning this adventure. Our MD Helen Swift joined the riders and conducted ‘Men of Harlech’ just before we departed on our 120 mile journey. |

Our 90th Birthday Dragon ‘Elin’ supervised from her seat on the stage. The audience of nearly 450 then sat as the concert began. Andrew Patterson assisted the Côr Meibion music team by playing organ during the first song, Rachie. Welsh Association of Male Choirs, Prize Winner Rhydian Jenkins sang between sets in the first half.

Leamington Hastings Parish Hall
1st December 2018
Rehearsal before the audience arrives. Our accompanist today was Helen’s husband Jonathan French. A packed house is introduced to the choir With the house lights dimmed we looked quite strange on the stage… never mind, we sounded excellent… not my opinion, but that of the very appreciative audience! This is what the audience don’t see… Helen working so hard to get the best sound out of the choir. | The small stage took a little time to get used to, I quickly realised that I had nowhere for my right foot… Followed by a welcome from our new Chairman David Francis Our soloist for the evening was Mezzo Soprano Rose Rowley. We are looking for a better picture, sorry Rose! Finally a better picture of Rose Rowley, posing with the choir at the end of the concert. Where is Helen? Answer, on the other side of the camera, taking the photo! |
