RECORDINGS

Despite being in existence since 1928, our first commercially released recording wasn’t made until 1994, with the release of a cassette tape, “Oxford Welsh Male Voice Choir at Jesus College Chapel“. Since then, we have released 6 more recordings on CD, each with slightly more imaginative titles.

The last two, “Let All Men Sing” and “Remembrance” are still available. They are for sale at our concerts for £10 each or £15 for both, or by post for £12 each or £17.50 for both.

Let All Men SingLet All Men Sing

Recorded at the Church of St Thomas of Canterbury, Goring. 4th July 2017

On this, our 90th Birthday CD, we have aimed to reflect the full range of the Welsh Male Voice Choir repertoire, from hymns and much-loved Welsh songs, folk songs both traditional and modern and 20th Century standards. We have chosen pieces which reflect our history (such as Myfanwy and Llanfair, which were performed by the choir in the 1930s) and also new pieces, such as Anfonaf Angel, published as recently as 2008. The title ‘Let All Men Sing’ sums up how we all feel about the joy of coming together in song.

Let All Men Sing, Llanfair, Anfonaf Angel, With a Voice of Singing, Danny Boy
If We Only Have Love, Pokarekare Ana, Fields of Athenry, Suo Gan
Alexander’s Ragtime Band, Myfanwy, Tenaram Voce Audio (Sarah)

RemembranceRemembrance

Recorded at the Church of St John the Baptist, Stanton St John. 26th July 2014

It’s a wonderful recording, made possible by the excellent acoustics of the Church. It was recorded and edited by Matt Watkins and features choir friends, soprano Hannah Nye (tracks 4 and 13) and Julie Goldsmith (Trumpet). The brilliant playing by Tim Croston on piano and Andrew Patterson on organ,  combined with superb direction by MD Helen Swift ensure that this is our best CD to date.
