St David's Day Concert,
The University Church of St Mary the Virgin, Oxford
25th February 2017
We relocated to St Mary's in order to try out its fabulous acoustics. The view from the stage is pretty impressive. On the right you can just see Helen and Samantha rehearsing.
Samantha Oxborough delighted the audience with her two sets. She also sang Suo Gan with the choir and the solo verse in Morte Christe.
42 members of the Oxford Welsh were on stage for the concert, a new record.
Some of the best seats in the house are in the gallery. From here you get an excellent view of the Church and the sound just drifts up towards you.
The music team of Helen Swift, Tim Croston and Andrew Patterson made the evening run like cockwork and brought the best out of the choir. Behind the scenes the 'staff' really worked hard to make this a very special evening.
We had a very flattering review from Tilly Green which expresses much of what we felt when performing in such a special venue. To read the review just follow the link. https://www.dailyinfo.co.uk/feature/11962/st-davids-day-concert#review65405
